Now, we don’t necessarily celebrate Halloween in the sense of its actual meaning; we celebrate it more in the form of a tradition. To be quite honest, I never knew what Halloween was really all about until I did a quick google search a few years ago.
Growing up in North America, Halloween was just a fun holiday most people took apart of – whether you knew what the actual holiday was about or not. Most public schools celebrated the day by allowing the students to come in to class with their costumes. Teachers also handed out candy throughout the day. Now tell me, why wouldn’t this day have a sweet spot in my heart?! Every kid would have fond memories from a day like that.
And I think that’s why Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year; It’s because it brings me right back to my childhood – to the days we dressed up as our favorite characters and ran around the neighborhood collecting our favorite candies.
Last year, I decided to host my first little family Halloween get together. I LOVE baking and also love creativity so i thought this would be the perfect holiday to do something I enjoyed. It was also my sons first Halloween experience – he was only 6 months old! Since we’re at the end of October right now, I thought it would be perfect timing to put this post up and get you all into the Halloween spirit! I wanted to also share all the photos from last year along with what my son wore first his first ever Halloween! He was the cutest little fox!

Halloween Table Decor
I’ve also shared where I purchased most of the items for my Halloween themed table and the decor. Similar items have been linked as well.
TARGET: TableCloth and Photo Booth Props
MICHAELS: Pumpkin String Lights, Happy Halloween Garland, Black and Orange Tissue Paper Pom Poms, Halloween Wood Signs, and Light Up Haunted Houses
DOLLAR TREE: All orange platters and bowls
We also ended the night by splitting our family into two groups and building haunted houses from kits I purchased at Michaels as well. It was loads of fun.
I’ve linked a similar kit here.
This year, we’ve decided to take our little boy out for his first trick-or-treating experience instead of throwing a party at home. Since he can walk now, I’m excited to see how he’ll handle this experience for the first time. Will he be scared or excited? Will he be brave enough to walk up to houses with us or cry? I’m not sure, but I’m excited to find out.
I will update this blog post to let you all know how it went and will include photos of his first time trick-or-treating!
Hope you enjoyed reading and hope you enjoy Halloween this year!
Staaaaaay Spooooky!
