Any mama out there knows just how little time we have in taking care of ourselves. We are usually so busy taking care of our family members that we often forget about our own health and well-being.
This is something I struggled with greatly as a first-time mom. I was so focused on taking care of my baby that I forgot to take care of my own needs. I quickly realized I didn’t have the luxury of time like I once did and made it a priority to find new ways to take care of myself, especially when it came to my nutritional intake. I wanted to start off my day with a boost and wanted a breakfast that would provide me with enough energy to be able to be fully there for my baby. I realized starting my day off with Protein and Probiotics for breakfast will help me achieve that goal.
Why start your day with Protein and Probiotics?
As I’ve explained in my previous post, protein and probiotics are very good for your body, especially if you start the day with them.
Protein is a building block of cells throughout the body. Eating protein for breakfast can help you feel more energized and ready to take on your day. Probiotics are the “good” bacteria — or live cultures — just like those naturally found in your gut. These active cultures help change or repopulate intestinal bacteria to balance gut flora. This functional component may boost immunity and overall health, especially GI health.
Why I chose the thinkThin Protein and Probiotics Hot Oatmeal
In the first few weeks of motherhood, I started looking for a brand that offered an easily portable breakfast that I could take with me when I’m rushing out the door. I wanted to make sure that while this breakfast item could be easily taken on the go, it did not lack any of the health benefits I was looking for. This is when I found the thinkThin Protein and Probiotics Hot Oatmeal. I quickly fell in love with its taste, nutritional value, and its portability. I also loved how each serving features a wholesome blend of hearty rolled oats, steel cut oats, red quinoa, and chia seeds. It also includes so many added benefits such as;
- 10g protein per serving
- 1 billion live probiotics per serving
- 6g fiber per serving
- GMO-Free
- Certified Gluten Free
- Kosher
They also have flavors that contain less than 200 calories or less per serving, 32g of whole grains per serving, and they even offer Vegan options as well (varies by flavor).
How I prepare my thinkThin Hot Oatmeal
There are two ways the thinkThin Protein and Probiotics Hot Oatmeal can be prepared. The first way is to add 1/3 cup of hot water, stir well, and let it stand for five minutes – then its all ready to eat! How easy is that!? If I’m in a hurry to leave the house, this is usually how I’ll prepare it so I can enjoy it on the go! This on the go Oatmeal saves me so much time in the morning but is still very healthy. I have been loving the cinnamon almond flavor recently. It is beyond delicious and nutritious.
The second way to prepare the thinkThin Protein and Probiotics Hot Oatmeal is to add cold water (1/2 cup) and microwave it for 45-60 seconds. After 4-5 minutes of cooling off, its ready to eat! Since my husband starts work at 6 a.m, he’ll usually take the ready to go bowl with him to work and prepare it that way. My husband has been enjoying both the maple pecan and blueberry harvest flavors recently.
Many breakfast options containing probiotics are usually consumed cold, such as kombucha, kefir, and yogurt. Since my husband and I prefer a hot breakfast option over a cold one, we are glad this oatmeal can be eaten hot and still contain the probiotics that are beneficial for our health.
Who ever said on the go breakfasts can’t be nutritious!? thinkThin has proven otherwise and I’m glad that I’m able to enjoy them as my daily breakfast.
